| A Message from Our Foundress Mother Mary Rose Flesch |
|
Although I speak to you from a different time and place, in reality the needs and the responses remain the same. When I founded the Community in 1863 the economic, political and social climate of Germany was chaotic and difficult and indeed grew worse over the next decade. Today the world seems to offer so much and yet so many are in need . . . spiritually, emotionally and physically. The threat of nuclear war, poverty and famine worldwide is so overwhelming that often we don't see the pressing daily needs of our neighbors. When I was a young child I had a dream in which I was at the edge of hell. In this dream I renounced worldly pleasures and vowed to remain a virgin. Still I was not released. I vowed to live simply and plainly among the people-then I was freed. It is through service to others, lovingly given, that we reach a special fulfillment and union with our Lord. I ask you to look deep within yourself and discover the resources you have to serve the Lord and those around you with joy and love. |

| Novena to Mother Rose O faithful God, those who trust in you are not abandoned. Mother Rose lived out her faith in your love and found solace and courage because she trusted your Word. Her life shows us that we can rely on you. You can even help us at those times when our situation seems hopeless. Hear what I ask of you, Lord…and hear my prayer through the intercession of Mother Rose. Following her example, I place my concerns confidently in your kind Fatherly hands. Help me as you, Father, see what is best for me. For this I ask you Father through Christ Our Lord. Amen. |
